Pietro di Giovanni Venture was Catherine’s disciple and a Dominican friar. Suzanne Noffke described his role in Catherine’s famiglia, “serving as Catherine’s emissary. He eventually contributed testimony to the Processo Castellano.”1Historian Thomas Luongo supports that claim that, “Catherine sent her famigliare Pietro di Giovanni di Ventura to the Sienese to account for her actions by word of mouth.”2Catherine trusted her disciples to speak on her behalf and deliver messages for her. These disciples were more than just spiritual followers, they helped maintain her reputation throughout the Tuscan world.
