A Florentine and member of the Parte Guelfa, Niccolò Soderini came into Catherine’s network at the same time of the Canigiani family. Catherine wrote to him several times because of the tumultuous events in Florence, specifically when Florence, “banished [him] from the worldly cares of political offices.”1 Catherine exercised her influence over Niccolò by giving him advice on his worldly job and advice on how to handle banishment.
