Andrea Naddini was in short, “a notorious gambler and blasphemer, who fell gravely ill in December 1370.”1 However, he was well connected to the government as a member of a Nove family which also extended to the Dominicans. This relationship, although not critical to Catherine’s legacy, supports my argument that Catherine was creating relationships and a large network of individuals before she met Raymond of Capua. By helping Andrea Naddini while sick, Catherine gained the support of his friends and allies.
